Homework ticket

Sunday, May 29, 2016 No comments
One of the most frustrating things for a teacher is when students do not complete their homework and you feel you are the only one who really cares. I have created these homework tickets to put more of the responsibility on the students to own up to not having their homework before the teacher even has to ask.Available for free at my TpT store

Guided Reading

I am going to be posting the next few days about my guided reading groups and what I do with them! First up is a break down of my time with each group. This past year I had 27 kids in my class so I had to break my guided reading groups into 5 separate groups. I don't call my groups by numbers because some of the kids are able to figure out which group is the higher group and which is my more lower group. I refer to my guided reading groups as North group, South group, West group, East group, and if I have more than 4 I add like Southwest group name in. I know as a teacher I wasn't always confident when I heard the words guided reading and trying to figure out how to balance how much time I should be spending with each group and what I should be doing with them. If you were like me I hope that this will help you out!!

Fun with Simple Machines

Tuesday, May 24, 2016 No comments
After MAP testing was over I was able to have some fun with my students at the end of the year with Science. We were learning about simple machines and I gave them the task of creating their own pulley system and their own catapult system using the supplies provided and what they had learned about how simple machines work. The results were a lot of fun and some amazing projects!

Small group storage

Found these amazing finds yesterday at Mardels on sale. I am excited to use them in the fall for small group organization.

Ultimate Teacher Binder!!

I don't know about you but I have always had the hardest time trying to find all the things I need for a teacher binder in one spot. I have spent money in stores on lesson plan books that honestly never gave me enough space to write down everything I needed too. Also it lacked all the other important information that us teachers need to stay organized. So I decided to make one of my own! I had so much fun doing it that I have decided to make a bunch of different designs in case there were other teachers interested in my ultimate teacher binder! So what goes in to making the ultimate teacher binder? Well I start with my cover page
Next I asked myself what are all the things I use daily to make my life as a teacher seem more organized. That included:
Weekly and Daily lesson plan
Small group planners
Student data pages
Grade book
Parent information
Parent Contact log
Student information pages
Substitute binder information
General classroom information
Yearly and Monthly calendar
It also includes labels and tabs

If you are interested in this lesson plan book you can find the arrow theme at my TPT store. I am in the process of uploading over 20 other themes I have been working on. I am available to take custom orders as well.
A bonus: The first 5 Comments can get a custom one made for FREE!!!

Freebies

This weeks freebie is all about helping with the Chit Chat in your classroom. Reward your students for listening and paying attention during your lesson with a little bit of free talking time. These number cards can be hung up and added minutes on to them each time you feel the class is working quietly or giving you their full attention. I only made the numbers to go up to five minutes because I feel after that the talking could get a little out of hand!
You can get these pre-made signs for free at my TpT store

Summer Reading List

Saturday, May 21, 2016 No comments
A few parents have asked me for a list of books their child going in to 3rd grade might like to read during the summer. I thought about the books my students could not put down this year and came up with the following list of books that would be perfect for any child to read over the summer!

Classroom Door...

Your classroom door is the first thing that parents, students, other teachers, and your principal see when they are entering your classroom. Now for some a blank door might not bother you, but if you are like me, you want to have that door looking amazingly decorated! This year was my favorite year when it came to decorating my classroom, and one of my favorite things was my classroom door.
It was very easy to make with the help of a hot glue gun, the material came from Hobby Lobby and the lettering I already had from previous bulletin boards. I was very sad to take it down at the end of the school year but looking forward to how I can make this look even better next year!

Welcome!!

I am so happy to say that I have finally started a long time dream of mine blogging about being a teacher! The site is new and has a lot of updating to be done over the next few weeks but that won't stop me from adding new blogs!
